BSHM Wins the Bench Cheering Competition 2023
On November 15, the ISU Intramurals 2023 started with the bench cheering competition, which filled the ISU-AC gymnasium with enthusiasm and vigor. The bench cheering competition is one of the most awaited events of the intramurals, as it displays the innovation, skill, and spirit of the different programs and colleges of the university. The competition was assessed by Mr. Keneth Loyd Cristobal from Cadaloria High School, Mr. Cessmark Paguigan from Aurora Senior High School, and Mr. Resty Baradi from Angadanan National High School, who rated the performances based on the criteria of originality, choreography, synchronization, costume, and overall impact.
Six teams, each representing a different course or program of the university, joined the competition: Polytechnic School - Blue Falcons, College of Criminal Justice Education - Red Wildcats, Information Technology - Purple Archers, College of Education - White Wolverine, Hospitality Management - Yellow Jaguars, and DAT- BAT- Green Fighters. Each team performed a five-minute routine that included cheers, chants, stunts, dances, and props that showed their team's identity and theme.
The performances were met with loud applause and cheers from the audience, who supported their respective teams with banners, flags, and noise makers. The teams also displayed sportsmanship and camaraderie, as they congratulated and complimented each other after their performances. The competition was a display of the ISU spirit, as well as the culture and diversity of the ISU community.
The results of the winners of the competition were announced immediately after the performances. The second runer up went to Information Technology - Purple Archers, who impressed the judges and the audience with their futuristic and techno-themed routine. The first runner up went to College of Education - White Wolverine, who wowed the crowd with their educational and inspirational routine. The champion of the competition was Hospitality Management - Yellow Jaguars, who dazzled everyone with their colorful and festive routine that showcased their hospitality and tourism skills.
According to a Facebook post that "The Collegian Blotter Publication" was published, The leader of the Hospitality Management team, Angelica Sheen Agustin, expressed her happiness and gratitude for winning the competition. She said, "We are happy because all the fatigue was worth it. We worked hard and practiced a lot for this competition. We also want to thank our coaches, our advisers, our classmates, and our supporters for helping us and cheering for us. We dedicate this win to our program and our college."
The bench cheering competition was a successful and enjoyable event, thanks to the active participation and cooperation of each program and college. The competition also set the tone and mood for the rest of the intramurals, which will continue until November 17.
